Add Locator To Corner

Use for

  • Creating locators at the corner of a window or door reveal.
  • Aligning windows to window openings.

Overview

This command will add, orientate and position a new locator at the point where the two selected edges meet. It is highly specialised towards this single task and will only correctly orientate the locator when the correct edges are chosen.

Workflow

To use this command,

  1. Select two edges that meet at the bottom-left corner of a window opening; Selection order is not important.
  2. Click on the ‘Add Locator To Corner’ button in the Arch-E user interface.

To parent a mesh to this locator,

  • Hold down the Ctrl key, then 'drag and drop' the mesh layer containing your window on to the locator, in the item list.

Note: This command will add, orientate and position a new locator at the point where the two selected edges meet. It is highly specialised towards this single task and will only correctly orientate the locator when the correct edges are chosen.

Below, you'll find two useful videos. The first shows how to use this tool, whereas, the second video explains why I use locators to align the windows and how to manually alignment them (e.g. if you don't use this command), as well as, how to pair your windows to the locators.
